Snowfall is expected to begin tapering off in Texas Tuesday morning as the storm shifts east along the coast toward Florida and the Carolinas. A wintry mix of snowps88, sleet and freezing rain will coat the Florida Panhandle’s white sand beaches in cities like Pensacola and Panama City Tuesday evening and overnight.

The very cold and rare air dipping into the Gulf Coast causes this coastal storm to behave a little more like a nor’easter, which draws ocean moisture into frigid air to create winter hazards in the Northeast. Though residents of Mid-Atlantic and New England States are used to this kind of weather, people in the South, often a haven for snowbirds looking to escape the cold months in the North, are not.

Among national universities, Princeton was ranked No. 1 again, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard. Stanford, which tied for third last year, fell to No. 4. U.S. News again judged Williams College the best among national liberal arts colleges. Spelman College was declared the country’s top historically Black institution.

Calls for school crackdowns have mounted with reports of cyberbullying among adolescents and studies indicating that smartphones, which offer round-the-clock distraction and social media access, have hindered academic instruction and the mental health of children.

In New Orleans, the snowfall should subside through the afternoon, and the system will continue along Interstate 10,x777 game which hugs the Gulf Coast into Florida. The snow should stay contained to Florida’s Panhandle as rain hits the peninsula farther south.

By Tuesday afternoon, snow will most likely begin falling across southern Georgia, with heavier snow falling south of Atlanta, where schools were closed Tuesday out of an abundance of caution and because of very cold temperatures. The storm will spread over the Carolinas, creating a range of winter weather with the heaviest snow staying south of Interstate 20, which runs through Atlanta and Columbia, S.C. By late afternoon and evening, a wintry mix of snowy weather is expected to arrive in the coastal towns of Savannah, Ga., and Charleston, S.C.

The storm’s final stretch of deep snowps88, of two to seven inches, will fall across the Outer Banks of North Carolina overnight as the storm moves into the Atlantic Ocean.
